Salle JEUDI 29 years Teaching You to fence |

|
An enthusiastic bunch of fencers in Bedford decided to obtain the services of a professional coach. Dave Moxley then Fencing and Shooting Instructor at Dame Alice Harpur School and Bedford High School was asked to approach Bob Kelly his former coach and fencing mentor. Bob had in the 1960's and early 1970's run the very successful Salle Anton Fencing Club of Northampton. Salle JEUDI flourished under Bob's encouraging style of coaching. Concentrating on foil and epee the clubs best strengths. Soon the club was sending out fencers to as many competitions and tournaments as they could enter. Dave Moxley Qualified under the BAF/AFA and joined the Academy. Over the next three years Salle JEUDI had 9 junior and 7 senior county champions. Senior members where also entering tournaments throughout the UK and Western Europe many at national and international level. D.A.H.S and Bedford High School supplied Salle JEUDI and Bedfordshire Fencing Club with most of the junior squad many of these were Oxbridge candidates and fenced for their respective universities. During the late 1980's and early 1990's the club specialised in taking fencing to the state school sector. Opening school clubs in Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire. |

Evening classes for seniors Continued in Bedford and Dave was Fencing master to a number of established clubs in the Beds, Bucks, Northants and Herts. areas. From these the Salle JEUDI Group of Fencing Clubs was formed. The Group now has Close on 200 fencers on its books. Each club in the group is run as a separate unit meeting at it's own venue having it's own club night. In all the group clubs some of their members who for business reasons can-not be as regular as they would wish the option of the other group Clubs is there if they wish and a number have taken advantage of this policy. With the addition of the Coach Education And Personal Performance Days in 1999 the club was able to found many links with other clubs and fencers throughout the UK. Many new students have used this website as an introduction to fencing. We have passed on to other clubs those enquiries outside our area. Two and three day training courses for both fencers and coaches are being planned for 2010.Salle JEUDI can put you on the right track. |
