29 years Teaching You to fence

An enthusiastic bunch of fencers in Bedford decided to obtain the services of a professional coach. Dave Moxley then Fencing and Shooting Instructor at Dame Alice Harpur School and Bedford High School was asked to approach Bob Kelly his former coach and fencing mentor. Bob had in the 1960's and early 1970's run the very successful Salle Anton Fencing Club of Northampton.

Salle JEUDI flourished under Bob's encouraging style of coaching. Concentrating on foil and epee the clubs best strengths. Soon the club was sending out fencers to as many competitions and tournaments as they could enter.

Dave Moxley Qualified under the BAF/AFA and joined the Academy. Over the next three years Salle JEUDI had 9 junior and 7 senior county champions. Senior members where also entering tournaments throughout the UK and Western Europe many at national and international level. D.A.H.S and Bedford High School supplied Salle JEUDI and Bedfordshire Fencing Club with most of the junior squad many of these were Oxbridge candidates and fenced for their  respective universities.

During the late 1980's and early 1990's the club specialised in taking fencing to the state school sector. Opening school clubs in Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire.

After lunch warm –up with one of our juniors.

L.P.J.S. A fine starter for the younger members.
